2025 Chase Around the Lake

Course Details
  • RUN (3.1 miles): This is a route that goes through many of the Lake Carmi State Park park camping areas. It starts at the public beach parking lot, runners will run out of the public beach area toward the entrance station and follow Causeway Road into the campground area. Runners will run to the end of the road and continue straight into the B-area on Perch Place, by the restroom, turning right and following Bear Lane by the B-area beach. Runners exit this loop returning to Perch Place, then turn left onto and around Pike Loop. Runners return to Causeway Road, then turn into the A-area on Rail Bed Road and take their third left, following Fox Run Road,  turning right onto Rail Bed Road, then left onto Causeway Road, running back toward the public beach.
  • Bike Route (14.5-15.5 miles): This route starts at the Lake Carmi State Park public beach parking lot. Bikers will bike out of the Park on Marsh Farm Road and then go south along State Park Road (Rte 236), west along Swamp Road then north on Rte 120. Those that are "In it to Win it" will continue on Rte 120 through town, and around the north end of Lake Carmi towards East Franklin, then turn south along State Park Road. The route will end by turning onto Marsh Farm Road and returning to the public beach parking lot at the Lake Carmi State Park.  Those that are there to "Enjoy the View" will cut across Riley Road, back onto Rte 120 and around the north end of Lake Carmi towards East Franklin, then south on State Park Road, west on Marsh Farm Road,  back to the starting point at the Lake Carmi State Park public beach.
  • KAYAK (2.5 miles): This route starts at the Lake Carmi State Park public beach and extends 0.75 miles northwest out toward and around the island, then southerly along the Westcott Shore for 0.75 miles, then east, toward the A-area beach and for a distance of 0.75 miles, and following the shoreline  in a northbound direction to the public beach finish line. Total length is approximately 2.5 miles.

Race Rules
  • Compete Individually or as a Team of up to 4 people.
    • If participating with a team, each person must register separately.
  • Events are in this order: Run, Bike, Kayak/Canoe.
  • Single or Tandem Kayaks or Canoes are acceptable. 
  • Must be 18 or older to participate in the water portion of the Triathlon. 
  • Participation options: Triathlon, Duathlon (Run & Bike) or 5K only! 
  • All bikers MUST wear helmets. 
  • All kayakers (or canoers) MUST wear life jackets. 
  • Check in starts at 7:30am; Race starts at 8:30am. 
  • Must register by June 7th to guarantee a t-shirt. 
  • All spectators will need to pay park entry fee.
  • Total race time limit is 4.5 hours. 
  • Race is on RAIN or SHINE!
  • No experience necessary. 
  • HAVE FUN!!
